Ann Stebelton has recently joined Petoskey Children’s Nursery Preschool as the new Lead teacher and Director.  We are very excited to have Ann lead our team and think you will be too!  Here’s a brief Q & A with Ann:

Tell us a little about yourself. Where did you grow up? What brought you to Petoskey? Do you have children? Pets?

I grew up in Grand Rapids, and in my youth I loved to travel. I certainly never expected to live in a small town like Petoskey, but I love it! Being a person who is drawn to nature, Northern Michigan is the spot to be!

I have been married for 17 years and we have 3 amazing children, a dog,and 2 cats.11114045_10155466822265061_4821520177539825531_o10380139_10201849536935361_6228832504074748528_o

Do you have a favorite teaching philosophy?
I am drawn to educational styles that have a deep respect for the child’s thoughts, desires, and uniqueness while inspiring creativity in many different aspects of life. Connecting with nature is a big passion of mine that you will see come out in our classroom.

What are you most excited about with your new role at PCN?
I am not sure if I could name just one! I see great potential for this school and I am excited to show the community how wonderful we are!

Tell us about your musical career.
I love all kinds of music and am thankful I get to dabble in them on the side. I am in a band called Sky & Signal where we write our own music centered around nature and relationships. I also play in a cover band called Boyne River Remedy from time to time. Lastly I sing at my church and for wedding ceremonies.

What book are you reading?
I always seem to have more than one going at a time! My Non Fiction is called “The Conscience Parent” by Shefali Tsabary. The fiction selection is “The Kitchen House”, by Kathleen Grissom.

What is your favorite movie?
This is a hard one. “Mary Poppins,” “Best In Show” and “What Dreams May Come” are a few.

Where is your favorite place to travel?
I loved Durango, Co and Mesa Verde National Park.

Always a fun question, what is your favorite Northern MI season?
Hands down: fall. It has always been my favorite season and Northern Michigan does it the best!

Have more questions?  Come and meet Ann in person!
